Meet The Team!

Kelli Steele, Owner
Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Hello! I am Kelli Steele, the owner of Renew Resilience Counseling, LLC. My hope in beginning this counseling collective is to bring quality, evidence-based services to our local communities.

I have been a counselor for over 11 years, and have loved seeing growth and change in the clients I work with. My earlier experiences in the mental health field involved supervising and managing residential treatment centers for adolescents. It was in this setting where I grew my admiration for the counseling profession. I pursued my master's degree at the University of Phoenix, achieving a Master of Science in Counseling Degree.
Upon graduation, I met my husband and moved to Kansas where I became a counselor for Family Preservation. My role was to provide in-home counseling services to families struggling with various life circumstances. I then spent 5 years as a counselor for the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center, working with children who had experienced significant trauma, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. I then decided to pave my own path, and started Renew Resilience Counseling, LLC., upon moving back to Utah in 2020. I have been running this private practice for over 4 years now and look forward to many more years of practice!

I am very client-based in my approach, using various skills and treatment modalities, tailored to fit where the client is currently at. I am a master practitioner of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), am certified as a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT), trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and have completed Gottman Training - Level 1. I have also done extensive trainings in Play Therapy and Sandtray. My goal is to help every client feel welcome, prioritized, and assist them in finding their strengths.

When I have a bit of free time, I love to go fishing and hiking; or basically anything outdoors. I love a good true crime show and can get wrapped up in psychological thriller books. I value time with friends and family, and always look forward to vacations on a beach!

The ultimate goal of therapy is that one will no longer require therapy. My experience with therapy early on in my life helped motivate me to wanting to help others who were experiencing similar difficulties. As my experience working in mental health grew, I learned that therapy is really about developing one's inner strength and learning to take back control of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Feeling like you need therapy does not mean that you are defective; sometimes it just means that life is hard, and we all need help at one time or another.
I have experience working in treatment settings with both adolescents and adults with varying diagnoses. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, and addiction, and am continuing to broaden my knowledge base for treating additional diagnoses.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy the outdoors and try to visit Yellowstone a couple of times a year. Biking, swimming, reading, playing music, and playing video games are among some of my interests. All of these activities are enhanced when I is able to do them with his family and friends.
